Learning about ancient Egypt in Year 4

Hannah Tait

This term we have been learning about Ancient Egypt. The class has been introduced to an explorer, Emily Sands and her team, who has taken them on a tour of Ancient Egypt on the hunt for the lost tomb of Osiris.

They have learnt about hieroglyphics and the Rosetta Stone which enabled the historians to decipher the drawings. The class also learned about the gods and the pharaohs, the pyramids of Giza and tombs in the Valley of the Kings, including the discovery of the tomb of the Pharaoh Tutankhamun.

We went on a fantastic trip to the Biblioteca Museu Víctor Balaguer to see the mummy of a child and take part in mummification.

The highlight of the term has been the class play that showcased some of the things that the class has learnt about Ancient Egypt. There was a museum of statues, a dance, jokes and a mummy. They all did really well!
