WORLD BOOK DAY AND YEAR 4 ART VISUALISING YOUR FAVOURITE BOOK IN A DIORAMA

Recent Art sessions for Year 4 involved the children working together in groups to design and make a diorama of a scene from their favourite book.  The activity linked nicely to the school celebrating world book day.

The children spent some time selecting their book and choosing a favourite scene. The design planning stage followed and detailed plans including sketches, lists of materials required and instructions were completed.

Fortunately, parents had kindly donated old boxes, containers and plastic bottles that the children were able to select to use in their projects.

So after the design stage –  work started and it looked like this …

and this …

Over the next few sessions, the children worked collaboratively to complete their projects, using their creative skills and just as importantly, problem-solving, when work did not always go to plan.   The end results were fabulous.
