Olive Tree Secondary at Model United Nations in Madrid

Written by: Maria Iriarte

An annual secondary school tradition, last weekend, Olive Tree students attended the Model United Nations, in Madrid or MADMUN. MUN is an educational program where pupils from various secondary schools across Europe, come together and participate in a recreation of the United Nations. The students become delegates from different countries and, for 3 days, they debate and write resolutions to solve topics such as “The conflict in Mali” or “The protection of refugees”, just as the United Nations does in the real world.

Our pupils represented countries such as South Sudan and Syria and gained a deeper understanding of the situation in those countries.

Although they were exhausted, they all did an excellent job! Their hard work and resilience really shone through during their debates and sessions.
