We are Artists! Exploring the Art of Hundertwasser in Year 4

EXPLORING THE ART OF HUNDERTWASSER

Year 4 has been learning all about the artist Hundertwasser. This Austrian artist became known for designing buildings, but he also created stamps, painted, and designed posters and other works of art. He even designed a new flag for New Zealand.

The children soon learnt that Hundertwasser had a lively imagination, his art showed spirals, wavy lines and bright colours. He did not like straight lines! After looking at some of his work, the children were then inspired to paint their own pictures using his styles and techniques.

The children noted that Hundertwasser’s work reminded them of Gaudi and they compared his work to the images of Park Guell and discussed their similarities.

Then that was it – we had to make our own lizards out of clay!
