Junior and Senior Musical Theatre

At The Olive Tree school, we have always celebrated individuality, creativity and freedom of expression, and there is no better platform to develop these skills and talents, than through performance.

We offer a rich and diverse programme in expressive arts throughout our school curriculum in drama (class productions, secondary Shakespeare plays and devised pieces), music, choir,

Talk for writing/ poetry/ oral storytelling/ presentation skills and in extracurricular activities, such as musical theatre, LAMDA, voice coaching and instrument classes.

The Performing Arts teach discipline, inspire creativity, improve self-esteem and help young people to set and reach goals. Our arts programme aims to nurture, sustain and celebrate each individual’s creative potential, helping them to develop in all areas of life with self-assurance and awareness, speech and delivery skills, that lead to many different opportunities and one, we hope, that will ignite a lifelong passion for the arts.

In Junior and Senior Musical theatre clubs, children work as a team with an experienced director and choreographer in creating a full musical production over a number of months to perform to friends, family and the wider community. This commitment requires stamina, motivation, independence and great teamwork. Children will not only learn through acting, choreography and singing but also in staging and technical duties. The great sense of achievement and adrenalin a young actor experiences when performing is euphoric and feeds the soul. Many return for more.

Our musical theatre and class productions have become renowned locally over many years, for the high calibre of talent with shows that have been produced like; Oliver, The Nutcracker, a ballet, The Wizard of Oz, Matilda, A Sound of Music and Bugsy Malone.
